weekly “report”: what i’m reading, eating, playing, obsessing, recommending, and treating myself to

Hey lovelies! I hope you’re having a great day (or night) wherever you are!

I saw this trend on TikTok a few days ago where people are giving their weekly “report”: what they’re reading, eating, playing (music, a sport, hobby, whatever), obsessing over, recommending, and treating themselves to during the week. I think this is so fun and such a great way to show what you’re into recently, so I decided to make it a weekly series! Especially because I’m a girl with a lot of interests and hobbies and things that make my life better, so I’m taking it as my duty to inform you all as well. I hope you enjoy!

Reading: Magnolia Parks

I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump recently, especially because so much of my time has been dedicated to studying for the MCAT (medical school exam). But I am so happy to announce that I’ve found the perfect book to get me out of it: Magnolia Parks*.*** I’ve heard so much about this on social media and it’s been on my goodreads “want to read” for a while, so the other day when I went to Barnes and Noble, I just knew I had to get it.

This is perfect for fans of Gossip Girl, romance, and just anything to do with high society and rich people (because I’m a sucker for rich people drama). Imagine Gossip Girl taking place in London: that’s this book exactly. The main characters especially remind me of Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass. There are themes of alcohol, cheating, drugs, and toxic relationships, so if those trigger you I would steer clear. Nevertheless, it’s a really easy book to get into and has tons of drama, friendship, and relationship dynamics. I rewatch Gossip Girl annually when it’s the end of the summer and approaching fall, so this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. The book did leave off on somewhat of a cliff hanger so I’ll be making another B&N trip very soon (or read it on my Kindle asap because I’m actually addicted).

Eating: Omelets with a side of sliced tomatoes

I came home to spend time with my parents over the weekend and my mom made me an omelet (with spinach, chiles, onions, and swiss cheese) with a side of a sliced yellow heirloom tomato topped with salt and pepper. And wow. I swear I felt like Remy from Ratatouille with the flavors exploding in my mouth. If you haven’t ever had a sliced tomato with just salt and pepper you are seriously missing out. It’s so flavorful and so simple. I’m stealing the recipe and making it every day until I get sick of it.

Playing: Hozier

I love Hozier but never really listened to him that much other than for his most popular songs. However, my sister is obsessed to say the least. And I am so glad she got me listening to him! Her birthday was back in March, but my cousin and I surprised her with tickets to see him live in concert which was this Saturday! His voice is even more angelic in person and I’m not exaggerating. He’s quite a bit different from my usual music taste (rap and R&B type of music), but I will nevertheless be listening to him a lot more.

Obsessing over: Matcha

I have always been a matcha lover through in through. Some people think it tastes like grass, I think it tastes like heaven. I almost always order an iced matcha or chai when i go to a coffee shop, but I’ve been trying to cut down on my outside spending. It took a lot of experimenting but I finally perfected my at-home matcha! I personally like my matcha pretty sweet, so I use the ceremonial grade sweetened matcha from Walmart or Target (the brand Jade Leaf). It may not be technically “authentic”, but compared to coffee shop matcha, I definitely prefer mine more. I also just add a bit of honey to sweeten it a little more and use oat milk as my milk. It is just divine! I crave it every single morning. The next thing I want to try to make is strawberry matcha, so stay tuned!

Recommending: Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm

I know that Summer Fridays has been all the craze this summer, but I don’t think anyone is as big of a fan as me. I literally reapply this stuff every 30 minutes and I’ve gone through three tubes already (suffice to say I’m obsessed). I use the Vanilla Beige scent and it actually smells so delicious I wish I could eat it. One day I thought I lost my current tube and I actually almost started crying because it’s just that good. Even my boyfriend complimented the lip balm (maybe because it smells like cupcakes). It’s perfect to add to lip liner for a lip combo, or by itself. I’ve been a religious Vaseline Rosy Lips girly and I will never go back. Is the price a bit much? Yes, for sure. Is it worth it. 1000%. My lips have never felt so smooth. PLEASE do yourself a favor and buy it I cannot recommend it enough.

Treating: Reading and Night Swims

I love summer because on the hottest days I can just lay by the pool and read, and if I get too hot I can jump right into the pool. There are many simple things in life that I enjoy, but reading and night swims are a personal favorite. Especially after a long day of studying, it’s SO calming and enjoyable. I’ve actually swam 5 times this week (my hair is screaming at me but it’s so worth it). If you’re feeling down or sad or unmotivated, just swim. Trust me it’s so healing.

I absolutely love all of these things and will continue loving them forever. I hope you enjoyed this and it inspired you in some way. As always, feel free to connect with me on my socials – I’d love to meet you! Lots of love always ❤
